Brett Kennedy joins DJM Realty as a Managing Director focused on providing real estate expertise to corporate restructuring and bankruptcy matters. With more than 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, Brett has managed asset sales, lease buyouts, lease rejections and assumptions, lease restructurings and brokerage agreement negotiations for various restructuring and bankruptcy clients with real estate savings exceeding $300 million. Brett has managed and directed over 100 asset sales utilizing §363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, including private treaty, orderly liquidation, auction-related and stalking horse sales scenarios. Brett’s clients include: Hostess Brands, HealthSouth Corporation, S&K Menswear, National Energy & Gas Transmission, Empire Today, CBRE, AMERCO/U-Haul and Lehman Brothers.
Prior to joining DJM Realty, Brett was with Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), where he was a founding member in establishing the national Real Estate Advisory Services practice. While at A&M, Brett worked closely with his restructuring colleagues to provide expert real estate advice to clients experiencing corporate crisis or restructuring, including Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Prior to A&M, Brett was in the Financial Advisory Services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers where he managed acquisition projects in excess of $2 billion and performed financial due diligence related to the disposition of a $10 billion loan portfolio. Brett began his career with Weston Companies in Memphis, Tennessee, where he developed, designed and implemented marketing efforts for retail, industrial and office projects throughout the Mid-South. Brett holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with concentrations in management and real estate from Baylor University.
