Tom Laczay
Principal and Senior Managing Director

In the position of Principal, Tom directs DJM Realty’s national Real Estate Valuation/ Due-Diligence consulting practice, which supports the Mitigation, Disposition and Bankruptcy practices.

Tom developed DJM’s financial model and has provided the valuation of over 26,000 retail and commercial leasehold and fee owned interests, both in and out of bankruptcy. This paradigm is widely recognized for liquidation analysis by lenders, corporate clients and legal and financial professionals. Since 1994, Tom has managed numerous retail mitigation assignments and bankruptcies, participating in project marketing with other DJM team members. Tom conducted many of DJM's real estate bankruptcy auctions and served as an expert witness in numerous bankruptcies.

Tom has been a guest speaker/panelist at national and regional seminars conducted by BDO Seidman, NNCREW, Chain Links Retail Partners, Gordon Brothers Group, the Real Estate Finance Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the Real Estate Board of New York, the Turnaround Management Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Tom has been quoted in numerous publications including The Wall Street Journal’s, marketplace cover article “Space Liquidators Unload Real Estate Left Behind When Big Chains Go Bust”.

Tom has over 25 years experience in commercial real estate. Prior to joining DJM, Tom worked with the DJM co-founders, as an owner’s representative for a private real estate investment firm, based in Manhattan. Prior to that, he held several executive and consulting positions in national commercial real estate investment, development and brokerage firms.
